CVJ Seal Technology
- High performance materials
- Compact designs
- Integrated PTFE lined seal
Race-tec, using non-linear
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations, is able to offer custom designed
CV seals to meet motorsport requirements. Designs can be integral to
differential to reduce aerodynamic drag.
Race-tec is able to offer several methods of mounting the boot onto the
hub/transmission, and retention on the shaft.
Custom design using non-linear FEA:

Performance Features
Materials
The elastomer can be any of the common compounds, Ethylene Acrylic (EAM),
Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR), Fluoroelastomers (FKM).
Race-tec has developed special formulations for
Grease compatibility
Reinforced grades to improve tear resistance.
Technical Features
The CV seals can be mounted on/in the hub/transmission using one of the
following methods:
- Interference fit
- Mechanical retention with a custom design circlip
- Simple cable tie
- Bonded into housing
In the case of the shaft, retention can be maintained using cable tie, clamp
or garter spring.
To avoid pressure build up within the CV joint, breather vents can be
designed into the seal.
As shown in the example below, special designs can be configured for the
‘unsolvable’ problems.
Applications
Race-tec CV seals are used in all forms of top motorsport i.e. F1,
sportcars, WRC, Nascar, where the seal is custom designed to meet the
performance demands of the application, whether it be high flexibility,
good tear resistance, compact design etc.
