Differential Seal Technology
- Low friction
- Cassette style assembly
- Excellent pressure/ speed capability
Race-Tec NAK
has introduced low friction, high performance seals for use with fabricated
upright assemblies and wheel hub components in race car applications. The
range includes VM-PL, VC-PL and the latest dual lip PL2 seals.
Race-tec NAK PL differential seals are used in F1, WRC and Paris-Dakar
applications. They feature two PL pressure seals in a cassette style
assembly allow oil transfer from the housing into the shaft.

Performance Features
Materials
The elastomer can be any of the common compounds, Nitrile (NBR),
Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR), Fluoroelastomers (FKM).
In this type of application, PTFE grades are normally filled to offer
maximum wear resistance whilst still minimising frictional losses.
Technical Features
The assembly is normally made of two narrow PTFE lined seals with anti
extrusion supports for each seal.
These seal assemblies have successfully been used in applications using
speeds up to 8,000 rpm and pressures to 40 bar.
Assembly may be welded, pressed or supplied as separate components depending
on the exact application requirements.
Typical widths of differential seal assemblies are 12 – 15mm.
Applications
Race-Tec NAK seals are used in all forms of top motorsport i.e. F1,
sportcars, WRC, Nascar, where the seal is custom designed to meet the
performance demands of the application, whether it be ultra-low friction
qualifying, low friction dirt exclusion, etc.
